Thank you! I use Reaper for the DAW, it's cheap, reliable and it's plugins are very good for basic mixing purposes (and by the way, free).
MIDI instruments? Well, my orchestra setup is composed of LASS, ProjectSAM Brass and True Strike mostly, plus some odd bits from all around to back it all up.
Metal and Rock section is mostly done with live instruments so can't really help much with that one.
